Event Recap: Planning for Board Service? Know the Current Trends

On Thursday, September 26, the Club’s Corporate Board Committee presented the event Planning for Board Service? Know the Current Trends.  The event was generously hosted by Ernst & Young LLP.

The distinguished panelists included Mohamad Ali , CEO of IDG, who currently serves on the boards of iRobot, Oxfam America, and the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council;  George Neble , former Managing Director of the Boston office of EY, who serves on the boards of and is the audit committee chair for Everquote and Rgse, and for the Yawkey Foundation, along with some private companies;  Tee Taggar t, former Senior Vice President & Partner at Wellington Management LLC, who serves on the boards of Albemarle (ALB) and Hanover Insurance Group (THG) and several major nonprofits; and  Pascale Witz , Founder and President of PWH Advisors, and who currently serves on the boards of Fresenius Medical Care, Perkin Elmer, Horizon Therapeutics, and Regulus Therapeutics. The event was moderated by  Grace Keeney Fey , President of Grace Fey Advisors. Grace currently serves as a Trustee of the John Hancock Financial Services Funds and is on the board of Fiduciary Trust Company. In addition, she is Trustee and Chair of the Investment Committee of WGBH, a member of the Mass Development and Finance Agency and a Trustee of the Mabel Louise Riley Foundation. And, she is a member of the board and Chair of the Investment Committee of The Boston Foundation.

With a panel this accomplished, you can expect a lively discussion–and this certainly occurred! From navigating board positions through “war” and “peace” times, to what to do when a board member goes rogue, to differentiating between CEO and board responsibilities, the panel covered it all.
